The 136-year-old town still celebrates its heritage and small town identity today, and city officials are currently leading a "Golden Vision 2030" plan to determine the city´s "Heart and Soul" values as they prepare to lead Golden into the future. This focus on quality of life is one of the many reasons residents find living here so appealing.

The area also hosts special year-round events, including the popular Buffalo Bill Days, a five-day celebration of one of the most recognizable figures from the Old West.
