Recently named the best place to live on Money Magazine´s list of America´s best small towns, Louisville is located six miles east of Boulder and 25 miles northwest of Denver. Louisville gained national prominence for its location to the great outdoors, low taxes, low unemployment and little crime. The history of Louisville dates back to 1878 when it was founded by coal miners looking for a town not owned and operated by a mining company. Today, historic Downtown Louisville has many local businesses and shops, and Tiny Main Street includes several family-owned restaurants and English-stylel pubs. During Friday evenings in the summer, the town often gathers for music, food, shopping and some children's activities at the Louisville Downtown Street Faire. Take a trip into the past and visit the Historical Museum including the Jacoe Store, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and Tomeo House, a replica model of a coal miner´s house.

With over 1,700 acres of open space and 30 miles of trails, Louisville attracts outdoor enthusiasts with numerous activities. The country roads on the north side of town are popular routes for cyclists, and Rocky Mountain National Park is less than an hour away. Every 4th of July brings the annual "Picnic in the Park" with horseshoes and bocce ball. Finally, award-winning Coal Creek Golf Course designed by Dick Phelps is one of the best in the area. This course offers an experience for all types of golfers.
