Littleton Community Information

Home to 41,000 residents (many of which are families); Littleton homes are accented by charm, history and an old town atmosphere. The types of real estate found in Littleton vary from turn of the century homes located in and around Old Town Littleton, to the larger luxury homes and estates in the Bow Mar, Polo Reserve and Highline Canal areas. Located in Arapahoe County, Littleton is just 11 miles south and southwest of Denver, and offers convenient proximity to light rail. The light rail´s "C" and "D" lines, adjacent to Santa Fe Drive, are accessible from the Mineral Station to the south and the Littleton Downtown Station to the north. These lines pass through downtown Littleton, Englewood and South Denver en route to Union Station and Lower Downtown Denver.

This mature and well-established community, with a history dating nearly 120 years, includes historic buildings set among modern amenities, as well 1,477 acres parks and open space. Several of the area´s beautiful old buildings, including the Littleton Municipal Courthouse and Carnegie Library, were saved and restored. In 1998, the Littleton Main Street Historic District was officially entered into the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Main Street features boutiques and antique stores, specialty services, and restaurants. The Littleton Historical Museum attracts over 100,000 visitors and is nationally accredited as the only Colorado museum that is a Smithsonian Affiliate.

Old Town Littleton is located south of Denver and Englewood and is adjacent to the 649 acre South Platte Park, one of the largest suburban parks in the United States. The Hudson Gardens & Events Center includes 30 acres of gardens that feature ponds, wildlife and sculptures set among plants, flowers and trees. Hudson Gardens also offers a summer concert series, special events and educational programs.

Outside the city of Littleton is a large area to the west and south of the city in both unincorporated Jefferson and Douglas Counties. Some of these areas have "Littleton, Colorado" mailing addresses but are in different school districts and are governed by different municipal governing authorities. Littleton School Information

Approximately 16,000 students in Grades K-12 attend Littleton Public Schools (LPS). LPS has the highest graduation rate for all school districts in the Denver metro area, and students consistently rank above state and national averages on standardized tests. LPS also offers "The Village 2 & Under Program" for children ages six weeks to three years - the first of its kind in Colorado to be affiliated with a public school district.
