Conifer Community Information

Tucked in the foothills 35 miles southwest of downtown Denver, Conifer is a growing community. Since 1995, the population of 74,977 has increased by 50 percent. Conifer real estate features single-family homes with an average price of $360,916.

Located in Jefferson County, Conifer is situated on Highway 285 near Evergreen, Bailey, Pine Junction and Aspen Park. Once known for agriculture and mining, present day Jefferson County is a mix of suburban, residential, business and industrial forces. Somewhat removed from the epicenter, a large number of Conifer residents commute to work outside of the area. Parks and trails, though, literally beckon from their front door. Open space filled with panoramic vistas, grassy meadows and forests are found in Reynolds Park and Meyer Ranch Park to name a few. Conifer residents live within minutes of numerous recreational activities, including: bird watching, golfing, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, and whitewater rafting, and are about an hour from several of Colorado´s best ski resorts.

Along with recreation, there´s plenty of history to uncover. Nearby attractions include Buffalo Bill Park Memorial Museum and Grave, the Hiwan Homestead Museum and Morrison Natural History Museum, as well as Dinosaur Ridge, an outdoor, self-guided tour of ancient dinosaur tracks, bones and vegetation.

Throughout the year, the community also celebrates several events, including the Conifer Mountain Music Festival at the 446-acre Beaver Ranch Open Space. The annual event features local and regional musical groups, arts, crafts, food, a rock climbing wall and mountain bike obstacle course. In addition to Conifer residents, the event attracts people from Bailey, Evergreen, Morrison and Pine.

On average, Conifer records 255 days of sunshine a year. The coldest month of the year is January, with an average temperature of 30 degrees. The hottest month is July with an average temperature of 74 degrees.

Conifer School Information

Conifer schools are part of Jeffco Public Schools, the state´s largest school district. Students attend West Jefferson Elementary, West Jefferson Middle School or Conifer High School. Conifer schools are recognized for innovative programs and student achievements. Students at West Jefferson Elementary benefit from access to technology tools (smart boards, document cameras and student laptops) in their daily curriculum. The libraries at both West Jefferson and Conifer High School have been ranked as a "Power Library" by the Colorado Department of Education. At Conifer High School, students are taught by a large number of teachers with advanced degrees.
