Education in Commerce City is provided by two school districts: Adams County School District 14 (Adams 14) in the south and Brighton School District 27J in the North. Adams 14 has plans to open a new high school/community learning center campus as part of the Prairie Gateway. The high school will offer a community college component through partnerships with Front Range Community College, Community College of Aurora, and Community College of Denver. With the passage of a bond issue in 2006, construction has started to build new schools and renovations are underway on existing facilities in Brighton School District 27J. A "District Build Out Study" concluded that 28 future elementary schools, seven middle schools and four high schools were needed by 2033 based on growth projections.
