Castle Rock Community Information

The secret is out about living in the town of Castle Rock, a residential community located half-way between Denver and Colorado Springs. Recognized nationally on Family Circle´s "10 Best Towns for Families," and Relocate-America's™ Top 10 Best Places to Live in 2009, Castle Rock´s popularity is based, in part, on its open spaces, affordable housing, top-rated schools, employment and low crime.

Sweeping Rocky Mountain views serve as the backdrop for many of Castle Rock´s neighborhoods. Castle Rock real estate offers numerous choices in various communities that feature amenities for growing families (Founders Village and The Meadows) golf and country club amenities (Castle Pines, Castle Pines North and Plum Creek) and custom homes (The Hidden Forest). Homes in the area range from $110,000 to $1.3 million. The median price for a condominium is $174,940 while a single-family home costs an average of $415,888.

It´s no surprise that 77 percent of the households in this residential community are comprised of families. Children´s programs are a focal point with activities available year-round in 400-acres of parks, through the Castle Rock Parks and Recreation Department, and at annual events in Downtown Castle Rock, including ArtFest, the Douglas County Fair, Starlight Summer Movie Series, among many others.

Community events are well-attended by the town´s 46,000 residents. It is estimated the population grows by about 10 percent annually, and should eventually more than double in size over the next five years. As a preemptive measure to prevent urban sprawl, officials purchase open space to protect special locations and its community boundaries.

Located at 6,202 feet, Castle Rock is surrounded by rocky buttes, one of which that overlooks the downtown and is appropriately called "Castle Rock." Along with its natural beauty, Castle Rock is known for its clear air quality and clean environment. Summer temperatures average 80 degrees while winter temperatures average 50 degrees.

Recreational options are abundant, and the area features some of the best golf courses in the country. Residents also enjoy easy access to a variety of shopping experiences in specialty boutiques and the Outlets at Castle Rock, as well as numerous restaurant dining options.
