Evergreen, a quaint mountain town nestled in the foothills off of Interstate 70, is a community that fuses mountain and city living. The population of more than 38,000 enjoys a lifestyle accented by blue spruce, pine forests and wildlife, with the close convenience of city services nearby. It's only 35 minutes from downtown Denver, 50 minutes from the Denver Technological Center (DTC) and 70 minutes from Denver International Airport. Evergreen residents also benefit from a quality of life that keeps the cost of living down, especially when it comes to buying a home. Based on Evergreen real estate, the average price for a condominium is $274,541and the average price for a single-family home is $476,910.

A majority of the homes found in Evergreen are custom-built. In the neighborhoods of Hiwan and Soda Creek, custom homes, with several acres of land, can cost up to $7 million. The Hiwan Golf Club was built on the same land where Hiwan Hereford cattle used to graze on the 14,000-acres of the Hiwan Ranch. Today, it's not uncommon for golfers to enjoy the company of elk or deer during play on the fast greens and challenging fairways.

Located at an elevation of 7,200 feet, Evergreen is located near Conifer and Aspen Park in the south, and Genesee and Lookout Mountain in the north. The area is set among a recreational playground capped by the 14,260-foot Mount Evans. Evergreen lake, the community's crown jewel, provides year-round recreational activities including boating, fishing, birding, ice-skating, and concerts. On the shores of the lake, Evergreen Golf Course offers stunning views and holes for a variety of skill levels. The lake also is bordered by mountain parks with numerous trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and horseback riding. Jefferson County Open Space also features several parks in the area for hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing. Evergreen is about an hour from several of Colorado's best ski resorts.

Along with recreation, there's plenty of history to uncover in Evergreen. Local attractions include Buffalo Bill Park Memorial Museum and Grave, the Hiwan Homestead Museum and Morrison Natural History Museum, as well as Dinosaur Ridge, an outdoor, self-guided tour of ancient dinosaur tracks, bones and vegetation.

Evergreen is also part of the 40-mile Lariat Loop, designated a Colorado Scenic Byway, featuring 36 sites and parks representing the geology, culture, history and paleontology of the foothills west of Denver.
