When it comes to business, the city of Englewood has a "golden" history dating back to 1848. Prospectors on their way to California stopped in Colorado and discovered gold near West Dartmouth Avenue, the first significant discovery of gold in the state. Today, the city boasts a business-friendly environment that emphasizes transportation, education and the arts. The top-three employers in the area are Swedish Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center; nationally recognized Craig Rehabilitation Hospital; and Sports Authority. Englewood claims more jobs and businesses per square-mile than any other city in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Another bonus for businesses and residents is Englewood's location. The city is easily accessible from South Broadway, US 285/Hampden and from the north and south on Santa Fe Drive. It is minutes from C-470 and I-25, and 30 miles from Denver International Airport. Transportation continues to be a focus of Englewood's future. City Center Englewood has been nationally recognized as a model of mixed-use transit-oriented development. In addition, there are two light rail lines, and a third planned as part of the Regional Transportation District's FasTracks project.

Located entirely within Arapahoe County, one of Colorado's largest counties, Englewood also benefits from one of the lowest mill levies in the state. Englewood residents also benefit from Arapahoe County's commitment to enhance the quality of life through the delivery of exceptional services. The county has been recognized locally for its energy savings efforts, and third nationally for its employee campaign to conserve energy and protect the environment.

Over the years, Englewood has beautified its streets and outdoor areas with public art displays. Several programs, including Art in Public Places and Museum of Outdoor Arts emphasize these efforts. A new amphitheater hosts an outdoor summer concert series and Hampden Hall a new events center hosting theatrical, dance and music performances to art exhibits and lectures. The historic Gothic Theater was recently refurbished and hosts concerts and other entertainment performances.

Outdoor recreation is plentiful at 12 parks, one golf course and Pirates Cove Family Aquatic Center, the newest Englewood recreational facility. Belleview Park is a popular destination for families and friends. The city's largest park features a creek, bike paths, playground equipment, miniature train and the Belleview Children's Farm with an actual barnyard of chickens, cows, pigs, goats and chickens.
